Salvation Army Tallies Kettle Fund

Jan 3, 2018 | 11:08 AM

The Salvation Army In Vernon is satisfied with it’s Christmas campaign.

Lieutenant Stefan Reid says just under 500 food hamper gift cards were given out.

The kettle campaign is still being tallied.

“And our campaign total raised to date with money still coming in is 427 thousand 479 dollars.”

That’s about 75 thousand dollars below their goal, but it surpassed last year by about 2 thousand dollars.

Reid says they’re quite happy with that.

“Four hundred and twenty-seven thousand dollars will make this place run. Our programming will continue. We’ll continue to help feed those in our community who need food.”

He says they’re ecstatic the community entrusts the food bank to the Salvation Army.

Already, January is busy.

“We’re already booking into the third week of January for food hampers. So things are continuing to be busy here, but it’s because of the community support, because of their money that we can provide hope to those who need it.
