Lumby Mayor Likely To Run Again

Lumby’s Mayor is feeling like he’d like to take another shot for at least another term

Civic elections will be held in October and Kevin Acton says his intention is to run again.

“Barring any major changes between now and then, you know what life is like, it can throw you some curve balls but so far, so good. And we just have a lot of really cool things on the books.”

He’d like to be part of those, including continued development of the industrial park and more work to build permanent infrastructure to prevent flooding.

“I think the most rewarding thing of being Mayor of a village like this is exactly like that, being part of what’s going on and being informed and having a grassroots understanding of what and why government does what it does.”

Acton has been Mayor of Lumby since 2009 and he’s learned a lot about himself over the years.

“I think there’s no way you can do a job that affects all of your friends lives that doesn’t teach you a few lessons in humility and compassion and generosity for sure.”

Acton says it’s always a growing experience everyday and while sometimes you make decisions even your closest friends don’t like, it’s in your heart, it’s for the intention of making your home a better place for everybody.
