Fatal Three Vehicle Crash Closes Highway

One person has died in a three vehicle crash west of Revelstoke that has closed the Number One highway until further notice.

The crash occurred near the Craigellachie Rest Area, 40 km west of Revelstoke at 12:30 pm today, with two of the vehicles colliding head on.

Police say a female found trapped in a vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A dog was also found deceased.

Two males are in critical condition.

The injured people have been taken to hospitals in Revelstoke, Salmon Arm and Kamloops.

The Trans Canada Highway is closed west of Revelstoke.

“The road closure is expected for several hours, with possible re-opening by 7 pm,” says Revelstoke RCMP Staff Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky. “Delay is due to address well-being of patients, clearing up road conditions, police examination of the scene, final clean up and then a safe and measured re-opening. There are no detours available.”
