Parking Lot Replaces Old Buildings

The city has torn-down the old buildings and opened 40 parking spaces on 29th Street just west of the library.

City real estate manager Brett Bandy says it’s much needed, and in a good location.

“Absolutely, no question, and the plan is to…we think we are going to sell half of the lot closest to 30th Avenue as daily parking and the other half would be monthly passes. That’s our plan at this point,” says Bandy.

In March, the lot will be shut down, and it will be paved and landscaped, and up to another 60 spots will be available, creating 80 to 100 lots in total.

Bandy says the opening was delayed due to an old oil tank being found underground on the site.

“It’s all done. There is a little bit of soil there left that’s still being remediated, but that will all be taken out by April 1st, or before.”

Bandy says for 2018, the passes for all surface parking lots, went on sale Dec. 1.
