Vernon Legion Poppy Sales On Target
Vernon’s Royal Canadian Legion is the latest group finding it harder to attract volunteers.
Branch President Bill Balcaen says that was the case with their poppy campaign this fall which produced about 40-thousand dollars, roughly the same as last year.
“Everyone that volunteered was very sincere. We just don’t have enough people that want to sit in a store. And we don’t ask many of them to stand outside anymore because it’s not a popular thing,” Balcaen tells Kiss FM.
The funds will be used for programs and to help veterans.
