New face in politics ready to lead Lake Country
A first-timer in politics is ready to fill a local Mayoral seat.
MaryEllen Buhler was elected as Mayor of Lake Country with over 34 per cent of the vote in the local general election, beating out incumbent Mayor Blair Ireland and fellow newcomer Priscila Brunetto.
“It is my very first foray into politics, so I’m very excited for that,” Buhler told Vernon Matters
“The result was not what I expected at all, I was very shocked. I didn’t know anyone in Priscila’s camp and as I was out door knocking and talking with people I still didn’t hear much except for ‘My vote is either for you or Priscila,’ and I imagined she was getting the same thing, but that the results would have been stronger in favour of Blair than for both of us, to be honest, but it turned out to be the other way.”
