The Apple Bowl is getting ready for the big leagues

The City said it plans to explore a $25-million investment to modernize the Apple Bowl, with the goal of expanding year-round community access and becoming the future home of a Canadian Premier League (CPL) club by 2028.

The proposed improvements are aimed at strengthening the Apple Bowl as a leading multi-use sports and event venue, improving the experience for community sport partners, athletes and visitors, while attracting professional, regional and national events.

“We’ve seen firsthand what tournaments and major events can do for Kelowna,” said Mayor Tom Dyas. “In 2026 alone, these events are projected to generate more than $150 million in economic activity while bringing people together, supporting local businesses and showcasing our city on a larger stage. Today, we’re building on that success by advancing long-needed improvements to the Apple Bowl and taking an important step toward welcoming a Canadian Premier League team to Kelowna in 2028.” 

The Apple Bowl played a central role in Kelowna’s Year of Sport, demonstrating the city’s ability to welcome large crowds and host professional sporting events while continuing to support regular community use. Attracting the Canadian Premier League – Canada’s top men’s professional soccer league – to Kelowna would carry that momentum forward by creating a permanent professional-sports presence.
