Select properties in an area off Highway 97 have been advised to boil their water before drinking.

Greater Vernon Water and the Regional District of North Okanagan issued a Boil Water Notice (BWN) for properties on Stepping Stones Cres. and for 360 to 380 Stepping Stones Drive Tuesday, May 5.

“A power outage in the area has resulted in a loss of water pressure for some customers,” the RDNO said in a release.

“The RDNO is issuing a precautionary BWN to the affected areas and sampling the water to ensure the continued safety of the water system.”

People in the affected areas were advised to bring their tap water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking; using to make food or drink, including ice and baby formula; and brushing their teeth.

Affected properties may also experience discoloured water or air in their pipes. In these cases people should run their taps on cold until the water turns clear.
