“Although the water will be turned off during this time, customers may not notice a water loss to their property. The RDNO requests customers refrain from running their water during this time,” a statement from the RDNO said.

“When water is restored to these properties, in conjunction with Interior Health, they will be on a precautionary Water Quality Advisory (WQA) until sampling results confirm the water is safe.”

People may wish to bring their tap water to a roiling boil for a minute before drinking, using to make food or drink, and brushing teeth.

The outage may also cause properties to have discoloured water or air in the pipes. In these cases people should run their cold taps until the water turns clear, with the RDNO recommending this process be done using an outside tap.
