With this funding, the team would not operate at full capacity, and instead they would work in the fall and winter months three days a week instead of the five they work over the summer months. The funding would cover labour ($27,000), fleet costs ($9,600), and supplies ($2,300).

Mayor Victor Cumming told Vernon Matters the team’s work in the fall and winter would provide a “significant service for a small amount of money,” adding it would not cost the taxpayer anything as it would be funded through unexpended reserves.

The pilot comes to an end this year. Continuation of the Clean Team summer operations will be considered in the Budget 2027 deliberations, held in December. The demand for the program over the fall and winter months will also be analyzed and then considered in the budget development process.
