Carney says no time for politics as usual in address to Liberals

MONTREAL — Prime Minister Mark Carney says it’s no time for politics as usual, as the country finds itself in the middle of a transformation that will define it for generations to come.

Carney made the comments in a campaign-style speech to rally party faithful on the final day of the Liberal party national convention in Montreal.

The Liberal leader called on Canadians to band together in the face of rapid geopolitical and technological change.

Just about year ago, Carney was swept into office by campaigning on how he would combat the threats that U.S. President Donald Trump and his trade war pose to the country.
