Boil water notice issued for Smith Creek area

Apr 10, 2026 | 11:24 AM

A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for a portion of West Kelowna’s Smith Creek area, effective immediately and until further notice.

The City of West Kelowna, in consultation with Interior Health, says the advisory applies to part of the Powers Creek Water Service Area after post-treatment turbidity and entrained air were detected in the distribution system. Officials say the conditions may reduce the effectiveness of disinfection.

Residents in the affected area may notice cloudy or discoloured water. Entrained air can appear milky or bubbly, and residents experiencing air in their lines are being advised to run cold water from the highest tap in their home to help clear it.

A map of the affected area is available at westkelownacity.ca/waterquality.
