Vernon recognized for its financial reporting for the 16th year in a row

The City of Vernon has once again been recognized for the work done by its finance department.
At the regular council meeting Monday, March 23, Vernon’s Director of Financial Services, Elma Hamming, was presented with the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association.
“This is our 16th year in a row [receiving this award],” Mayor Victor Cumming said in presenting Hamming with the award for the work done in the 2024 financial year.
“It’s one of the things we’re really proud of. Finance, as we’re doing it, is successful year after year, but it doesn’t mean that each year isn’t just as important.”
