Kelowna council to decide on future of Kelowna Springs Golf Course
Kelowna city council is set to make a decision today on a proposal that could significantly change the Kelowna Springs Golf Course property.
Developer Denciti is seeking to rezone roughly 54 acres of the former 18-hole course for industrial use, while leaving the remainder as a city-owned golf course. Council postponed a vote last week after a seven-hour public hearing to allow further consideration of the project and public input.
Councillor Maxine DeHart has recused herself from the vote due to a conflict of interest, leaving eight councillors to decide. Any tie vote would result in the proposal being defeated.
The decision marks a key moment in determining the balance between development and preservation of city-owned recreational land.
