An art exhibit that tells the story of a Canadian artist’s experience with chronic illness will be on view in Vernon for the next few months.

Amy J. Dyck’s exhibit Portals to Elsewhere tells her story through an examination of an imaginative dreamscape with paintings, sculptures, drawings and other pieces.

Through these pieces the artist balances hope with vulnerability by exploring themes of resilience and adaptation.

“Amy J. Dyck’s work invites viewers into a richly imagined world where vulnerability and strength coexist,” Dauna Kennedy, Executive Director of the Vernon Public Art Gallery, said.

“Through her inventive characters and dreamlike environments, she offers a powerful reflection on transformation, resilience, and the ways creativity can help us reimagine our relationship to our bodies and our experiences.”

The Portals to Elsewhere exhibit will be on display at the gallery from March 20 to May 20, with an opening reception taking place on March 19.

Dyck will also visit the gallery on April 19 to meet with people and discuss her works.
