Police are giving some details about how a road rage incident escalated in the Shuswap.

Salmon Arm RCMP said a man came into the detachment with two witnesses on Sunday, March 1 and told officers he was stabbed during an altercation at a traffic light on Highway 1 near Highway 97B.

Police said the man had a significant laceration and paramedics attended the detachment then took him to hospital.

Mounties located the suspect vehicle involved in the altercation and on Monday the driver, Calvin Pavey, was charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of assault with a weapon.

The 52 year old Salmon Arm man was held for a bail hearing, then released on conditions.

Officers said this was believed to have been an isolated incident.

The investigating into the stabbing was ongoing as of time of publication, and anyone who witnessed the incident or had dashcam footage from the area was asked to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP.
