Infrastructure work making progress in Coldstream
A number of infrastructure projects are moving ahead within Coldstream.
A district staff report said the Aberdeen Road Sewer project resumed February 2 and should see the drilling under the CN Rail tracks for a new watermain completed by the end of the month. After that crews will move down to near Whisbey Drive and do the work from there up to the north near Venables Drive.
Aberdeen Road will remain closed from Highway 6 and Middleton Drive to Kalamalka Road to all but local traffic until the work is completed, which is expected to be in the fall. A pedestrian route has been established along the road.
Elsewhere in the district, the geotechnical investigations have completed and the design work has started for the widening, road base repair, drainage improvements and new asphalt surfacing for School Road between Jeffries Drive and Learmouth Road; the box elders at Cenotaph Park have been taken down and new trees will be planted in the spring; the log house has been demolished and topsoil and grass seed will be laid in the spring; the solar panels installed at Coldstream Community Hall are now generating power; and the Lavington Wetland Risk Mitigation project has entered the development stage.
