Retail theft crackdown in West K

West Kelowna RCMP are reporting that local retail theft will not be tolerated.

This, after a two-day targeted initiative at several retail locations last week where several people were investigated for 18 theft-related incidents.

Police said about $3,000 in stolen merchandise was recovered.

Mounties said nine investigations are ongoing and any charges are subject to approval by the B.C. Prosecution Service and several people received store bans.

“This project sends a clear message that retail theft will not be tolerated in West Kelowna,” Corporal Bryan Mulrooney, NCO i/c of the West Kelowna Crime Reduction Unit, said. “Through targeted enforcement and strong partnerships with local businesses, we’ve worked to hold offenders accountable and improve safety for our community.”
