TORONTO — Toronto FC acquired forward Emilio Aristizábal from Colombian First Division team Atlético Nacional on Tuesday.

Aristizábal will be on loan for the entire 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, with Toronto FC having an option to purchase.

Aristizábal will occupy an under-22 initiative slot and international roster position; however, he’ll be added to the lineup pending receipt of his medicals and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Aristizábal scored 12 goals and two assists in 36 games last season with Colombian First Division team Fortaleza CEIF.

Toronto opens the MLS season on the road Saturday against FC Dallas.

“Emilio has established himself as one of Colombia’s top young attacking talents, and we are excited to begin our journey together,” TFC general manager Jason Hernandez said in a statement. “He is coming off a strong 2025 in his first full senior campaign, delivering an impressive offensive output at just 19 years old, and we look forward to his continued growth at our club.”

Toronto FC also claimed Raheem Edwards off waivers from the New York Red Bulls. Edwards, 30, of Mississauga, Ont., began his career with the Reds when he signed with them on March 2, 2017.

He was with Toronto FC during the ’17 season when it captured the MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield and Canadian Championship.

Last season, Edwards made 29 appearances with the Red Buls, registering three assists across all competitions (MLS regular season, Leagues Cup and US Open Cup).
