Infrastructure project in Coldstream delayed, road to remain closed for months

Jul 11, 2025 | 11:42 AM

An infrastructure project in Coldstream that was supposed to be completed in a couple weeks is now going to take a few months more to complete.

The sanitary sewer line installation on Selkirk Drive was supposed to be done between June 2 and 30, but bedrock found underground caused a delay to the work.

“The extents of the bedrock have been assessed and will require specialized drilling equipment, which is not readily available,” the District of Coldstream said in a news release.

“Once the schedule for drilling is confirmed, residents, the RDNO staff and visitors will be notified. Rock removal will require a temporary reinstatement of the intersection closure and a resumption of the bypass through Inverness Drive. This work is anticipated to take place before the end of July.”

During the work, Selkirk Drive will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Aberdeen Road will also be closed between Selkirk and Middleton Drives. The closures were expected to remain in place until October.

Access to the RDNO office will remain open via Hwy 6.

The initial delay to the work led to area residents becoming frustrated with the work.
