Douglas Bruce Whiting

Doug passed unexpectedly at the age of 78 on July 2, 2025 at Kelowna General Hospital.
Doug was born on December 7, 1946 in Tracy, Minnesota to Maxine (Unger) and Richard Whiting. He graduated from Tracy High School in 1964.
Doug had several jobs during his career including working as a Mutual Life Insurance Agent in Minneapolis, Whiting Lumber Company in Tracy, Bell Pole in Alberta & British Columbia, and as a School Bus Driver in Lumby. Doug also served as a Scout Leader, 4H Leader, a Church Deacon and a Drug and Alcohol Interventionist.
Doug is survived by his wife, Darlene (Sheardown) Whiting, his children, Jennifer (Steve), Andrew, Christopher (Jessica), Alexis (Ryan), and Kaitlyn (Shane), His grandchildren, Aimee Mitchel, Tala, Malie, Hunter, Nathan, Max, Benjamin, Amellia, Solomon, and Nora, his sister Judy, many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Doug is also survived by his previous wife, Barbara (Byrne) Whiting, mother of Jennifer, Andrew, an Christopher.
Doug is predeceased by his mother, Maxine (Unger) Whiting, his father, Richard Best Whiting, and his brother, Robert (Rose) Whiting.
Doug loved working and playing with his family and friends.
Doug touched out lives with strength and love. He will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts and memories.
A service will take place for Doug on July 10th 2025 at 10:00am at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Vernon B.C.
