Measles exposure reported in Southern Interior, public risk considered low
Health officials are warning of measles exposure in the Southern Interior.
Interior Health said, on June 8, a visitor who was confirmed to have measles stopped by the McDonalds on Middletown Place in Sparwood, between Fernie and Crowsnest.
It warned that people who also visited the restaurant between 3 and 5:30 p.m. may have been exposed to the virus, and the health authority were in the process of doing contact tracing.
Anyone who may have been exposed and are not vaccinated against the virus, unsure about their immunization status, or are immunocompromised, are advised to call 1-855-549-6364 to speak with the communicable disease team, or call 811 to speak with a nurse.
