‘Kelowna S**t Show’: Flyer making a stink downtown
A controversial flyer circulating online is demanding that the City of Kelowna provide 24-hour access to public washrooms — and is warning of grotesque protest action if the demand is ignored.
Styled to look like an old newspaper, the flyer was first shared on Reddit earlier this week. It advertises a demonstration planned for 8 p.m. on June 13, stating that a group of unhoused individuals will “sit on the following public places” unless the city meets their demand.
The listed locations include Kelowna City Hall, the Rotary Centre for the Arts, the Queensway transit loop, the downtown library, and other public and cultural facilities.
The flyer argues that closing public washrooms at 8 p.m. leaves people with no overnight access, calling 24/7 bathroom availability a matter of “common sense.”
