In loving memory of Frank Johann Flasch born June 12, 1930, in Leipzig, Saskatchewan to parents Frank and Anna Flasch. He grew up in a bustling household of 5 children, Betty, Frank, Wilma (predeceased), Wilfred (predeceased), and Francis. As a young man, Frank worked on various farms and in 1949 headed out with Wilfred to work the mines in Sudbury, Ontario. After returning to North Battleford, he met the love of his life, Gilberthe Marie L’Heureux. After a short courtship, they married in 1953 and had five children, Daniel (predeceased), Joanne, Frances, David, and Richard (predeceased). Frank obtained his journeyman as a plumber/pipefitter in 1956. In 1966 the family packed up and moved to the beautiful city of Vernon, B.C. where they lived until his passing March 24th, 2025 at the age of 94.
He generously gave his time to minor hockey as the President of the Vernon Minor Hockey League and also a team coach. In addition, he volunteered as a Captain and chapter member of the BX fire department. He was a dedicated member of St. James parish, helping as an usher, greeting parishioners with a handshake and a welcoming smile. In addition, he was a valued member of the Knights of Columbus. Frank loved to help his neighbours, and friends and was fondly known as a “Mister Fix It”.
Frank had a passion for camping and fishing with the family and he would pack everyone up and travel to the many fishing lakes in the area. When lakeshore property became available to build on, he jumped on the opportunity. In 1984 Frank, Gil, family, and friends built their beloved log cabin on Okanagan Lake, which still stands today, and is enjoyed by the whole family. The cabin was Frank’s happy place where he loved seeing his family visit during their family vacations. During the winter months, Frank and Gil would travel to Arizona to soak up the sun with friends. Frank also loved to bowl and play golf.
Frank was very proud of this loving family. Wife: Gil. Children: Daniel (predeceased), Joanne (Don predeceased), Frances (Shane predeceased), Dave (Anna) and Richard (predeceased). Grandchildren: Troy (Chantelle), Coral (Kevin), Carly (Tom), Cassie (Mike), Trisha (Derek), Crystal (Trevor), Jayden (Jolene), Sandy (Jason), and Nathan. Great-grandchildren: Dezirae, Dayla, Halle, Jason, Riven, Reef, Jack, Emma, Sophie, Kace, and Alexandria.
Mass will be celebrated by Father Peter and Deacon Paul at Saint James Catholic Church, 2607 – 27 Street, Vernon, B,C., on May 5th, 2025 at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please make your donation to Vernon Hospice House in memory of Frank.
