Decision in sexual assault of a minor retrial postponed

A decision in a retrial of a sexual assault case involving a minor won’t be made until 2025.

Keith Chase, accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl while he was her hockey coach in 2004, was due in court Monday, Dec. 9, to schedule a date to hear the decision in his retrial.

The B.C. Prosecution Service said the case was adjourned until January 20, 2025, at which point the judge would schedule a date for the decision.

Chase’s retrial was ordered after the B.C. Court of Appeals ruled the judge made errors in the initial trial in 2022.
