Tree of Memories available at Kelowna’s cemetary for people to remember loved ones

Kelowna and area residents wishing to remember loved ones over the holidays who have passed can hang a decoration at the Tree of Memories.

As of Monday, Dec. 2, the City of Kelowna was allowing people to decorate the tree, located at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery’s Promontory Green Internment Garden, with ornaments or memorializing decorations. Ornaments and decorations could also be hung on the spruce trees that frame the Bennet Memorial and Legacy Gardens.

“The Tree of Memories provides an opportunity for residents to reflect and remember those who’ve passed on with a simple, seasonal gesture,” Tracey Hillis, Acting Parks Manager, said.

“We’re honoured to host this annual initiative that has become a cherished tradition for many families in our community.”

As part of the annual Tree of Memories program, cemetary visitors can hang ornaments between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily until January 10. Decorations must be removed by January 13, otherwise they will be removed by staff and donated.
