Firefighters in Kelowna were dispatched to the Orchard Park Mall Sunday afternoon due to a small electrical fire.

Kelowna Fire responded to a report of flames coming from a pot light in a façade on the north side of the mall around 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24.

Firefighters arrived on the scene but were not able to locate the fire or smoke.

Mall staff directed the fire crew to the pot light in question, and firefighters determined a breaker had tripped and cut power to the light. Crews confirmed there was no extension to the building and no injuries to members of the public or firefighters.

A large initial response consisting of five engines, two ladder trucks, 27 firefighters, a rescue truck and a command unit was provided initially due to the high occupancy at the mall, though that was downgraded after crews surveyed the scene and determined the source of the call.
