Vernon North Okanagan RCP is investigating a serious crash Saturday night that saw two people taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police say the crash occurred in the East Hill area of Vernon around 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.

Police attended the scene in the 2700-block of 15th Street, along with B.C. Emergency Health Services and Vernon Fire Rescue Services, to assist with caring for two people in a Pontiac Grand Am.

Officers found that two other vehicles and a hydro pole at the scene were damaged. The initial investigation determined the Grand Am was driving at a high rate of speed, lost control and went off the road, where it collided with the two unoccupied vehicles and the hydro pole.

The occupants of the subject vehicle were in critical condition and, once extricated from the Grand Am, were taken to hospital for treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, and the investigation was ongoing. A member of the RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service attended the scene and was assisting with the investigation.
