With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Steven “Steve” Foley on October 6,
 2024, in Vernon BC.
He will be dearly missed by his sons Dillon ( Jenny) and Lucas, his parents Linda and Dennis, his brother
Darren (TJ), sisters Alison (Rob), Stephanie (Glenn), his nieces Kierstyn, Lily, Emma, and his nephew Jonny.
He will also be dearly missed by his family in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Australia, and his countless friends in
Vernon and Winnipeg.
He was predeceased by grandparents William and Lorraine Ostapovitch, as well as Dick and Merle Foley.

As a young boy, Steven played hockey, football and soccer. He would eventually excel as a competitive
swimmer and swam with the Manitoba Marlins for many years. He qualified for nationals at 14 years old and
broke several records during his swimming career. Many of his club records from the 1990’s still stand today,
more than 25 years later. His endless hard work, multiple practices a week and love for learning led him to the
Olympic trials and earned him several university scholarships.
Later in life, his love for sports and the outdoors continued to grow, and he became an excellent snowboarder
and downhill mountain biker. He always looked forward to his next ride, willing to try any and every trail no
matter how hard it looked. He also enjoyed the relaxing side of the outdoors: paddle boarding, going on river
floats and hiking - often with his dog Potato. He spent countless hours on the mountains, lakes and trails that
he loved.
Steven loved his job as a shop foreman and master automotive technician at Bannister Honda. He was well
respected and loved by many. He mentored several mechanics over the years, and most recently, his son Lucas
was lucky enough to benefit from his father’s expertise. His dream was to eventually become a teacher, and
we all know that he would have been great at it.
His son Dillon was able to visit Steven throughout the years and joined him on many adventures outdoors
in the Okanagan. Dillon even proposed to his now-wife on one of his dad’s favourite mountains. This meant the
world to Steven, as did seeing them get married the following summer. He was so very proud of his boys, and
they meant the world to him - he was always ready to move mountains for them.
Steven lived his life to the fullest; he was incredibly funny, lighthearted and very kind. He was a constant light
for those around him, bringing joy to the hearts of many, and was always there to lend a helping hand. We
will forever cherish the memories that we have of him. The time we got to spend with him was precious, and
we wish we had more of it.

He will be forever missed and will always be held close in our hearts.
For all of Steven’s many friends and family members, we will be hosting a come and go celebration of life
at Kilter in St Boniface, Winnipeg, on Saturday, Nov 16/2024, from 2 pm-6 pm.
