The highway between Merritt and Hope is in for some snow.

Environment Canada issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Coquihalla Highway Monday, Nov. 25, stating 25 centimetres of heavy snow could fall on the highway during the day and into the night.

The snowfall will be the result of a strong Pacific frontal system moving into the Interior, which will also bring strong, gusting winds to the highway.

The storm was also forecasted to bring gusting winds and around five to 10 centimetres of snow to the Okanagan Connector.

The weather agency said the weather could impact the road conditions and visibility, and urged motorists to be cautious and drive to conditions; to have winter tires on their vehicles and use chains if needed; to check routes on DriveBC before getting behind the wheel; and to keep emergency kits in their vehicles when travelling.
