Alternative modes of transportation in Vernon are becoming more affordable.

Neuron Mobility, the company that provides the public e-scooters and e-bikes said it plans to introduce a flat fee of $2.50 for short rides in Vernon.

Starting the week of Oct. 17, riders will be able to sign up for a Fixed Fare Pass, which will allow them to take advantage of the deal.

The fixed fee will apply to trips that take under 15 minutes to complete. Going over that time will see the rider charged an additional $0.35 per minute.

Neuron noted that having the Fixed Fare Pass will not mean riders can’t access other passes.

“We’re delighted to launch the new $2.50 flat fee offer and anticipate it will make it easier and more affordable for residents and visitors to explore Vernon on our e-scooters,” Ankush Karwal, General Manager of Neuron Mobility Canada, said.

“We’re excited to see the continued positive impact our riders are making in the community— not only are they reducing emissions but they are also driving economic growth for local businesses.”

Neuron e-scooters became available in Vernon in July of 2021, and since then local riders have travelled a combined total of more than 805,000 kilometres. Neuron noted 40 per cent of those trips replaced ones that otherwise would have been taken by car, and that seven of 10 trips resulted in a rider making a purchase at a local business.
