Ordering online may be convenient for some items, but for other products it’s a different story. Dennis from Arden Tile explained why online shopping is such a poor fit for buying tile.

Heavy and fragile

“Freight logistics can be a nightmare for a product like tile. It’s heavy and fragile, which is a bad combination” stated Dennis.

Many freight companies used by online platforms aren’t prepared to handle the heavy pallets, and sometimes even expect a forklift there to unload. Or they may charge lift-gate fees to leave the shipment on the street or in your driveway.

The customer usually also needs to be home to accept a delivery as large as a tile shipment. Anticipating exactly when the freight will arrive can be tricky.
