Sep 18, 2024 | 12:38 PM

The ban on category 2 open fires was lifted for the Kamloops Fire Centre Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The B.C. Wildfire Service ban was lifted as of noon Wednesday as seasonal fall temperatures and recent precipitation helped lower the region’s fire danger rating.

With the ban being lifted, people can once again burn material in a piles of no more than two metres tall and three metres wide, and can also burn stubble or grass over an area that does not exceed 0.2 hectares.

The lifting of the ban also allows people to once again use fireworks, sky lanterns, binary exploding targets, burn curtains, and burn barrels and cages.

Category 3 open fires remained prohibited throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre Wednesday.

In response to the B.C. Wildfire Service lifting it’s ban, the City of Enderby also once again allowed category 2 open burning within its municipal boundaries Wednesday.
