Swimmers can once again enter the water at Rotary Park without fear of becoming ill.
The City of Kelowna, in consultation with Interior Health, lifted the swimming advisory for the beach Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The advisory was issued August 27 due to high E.coli bacterial counts in the water, but recent testing showed the levels were back within the safe swimming range.
The city encouraged people take steps to protect the water quality by not feeding ducks or geese; not taking pets to the beach; not littering; using onshore facilities to dispose of boat sewage; not changing children’s diapers at the beach; and not entering the water with active diarrhea.
