Heat wave to settle over Okanagan, Interior for the long weekend
People are advised to prepare for another heat wave.
Environment Canada issued a Heat Warning for the Okanagan, South Thompson, South Fraser Canyon, Kootenay Lake, East Kootenay, and Manning-Skagit Valley regions Thursday, Aug. 1.
The weather agency said a strong ridge of high pressure is building over the region, bringing with it daytime highs in the mid- to upper-thirties, with overnight lows in the high teens.
Environment Canada advises people stay cool during the heat wave by staying in air conditioned areas, closing blinds and curtains during the hottest part of the day, limiting time outside, and staying hydrated.
