GRAZIER, Lyle James "Jim"
Posted Jul 22, 2024 | 4:29 PM
Jim Grazier passed away at the age of 77. He is survived by his four children: Cal, Shelley, Trina, and Terry.
He was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and moved around a lot throughout his childhood. He was the second of five children and learned the value of hard work through various paper routes and babysitting gigs. He spent his high school years in Vancouver and, in his mid-20s, moved his family to Vernon, BC, where he built his own house in the Blue Jay subdivision in 1976.
Jim was very involved in the Vernon community and was an avid Toastmaster for many years. He was a sponsor and founding member of the club in Lumby. He played hockey with the “Bent Blades” hockey team from 1985-2015. He was a member of the Vernon Film Society and the Knights of Columbus.
Jim was an appraiser with BC Assessment and adored his job. He loved discussing real estate and enjoyed having home improvement projects on the go. He spent many years slowly building his cabin out on Shuswap Lake.
He enjoyed staying active, particularly playing tennis, golf, skiing, and cycling.
Jim had a positive attitude toward life and loved connecting with people. He liked making people laugh. One of his favorite things to say was, “It’s a beautiful world… because we make it that way!”
The family would like to give a big thank you to the nurses and caregivers at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Polson Special, and Noric House for their care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 23rd, at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
