Swimming advisory lifted for Kin Beach

Jul 19, 2024 | 4:33 PM

People can once again swim at Vernon’s beach on Okanagan Lake.

On July 8, Interior Health issued a Swimming Advisory for Kin Beach due to unacceptable microbiological levels in the water.

However, that advisory has since been lifted.

“The most recent samples from Vernon beaches in this area, taken July 15, were satisfactory and we have no current beach advisories for Vernon at this time,” Interior Health told Vernon Matters in an email.

Vernon was also removed from IH’s online list of Beach Advisories, which can be seen here.

Only one Swimming Advisory remained in effect for the Okanagan as of July 19. That was located at the Okanagan Lake Provincial Park Beach in Summerland and was also issued due to unacceptable microbiological levels.
