It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Annette Kezia Kazmar (Reeve)
on May 31st, 2024 at the age of 83.
Born August 5th 1940 in Kelowna BC, Annette grew up in the Okanagan Centre tasked
with helping her father on the family orchard until meeting the love of her life, George, at
the Falkland Stampede in 1958. The young love birds ran away to be married in
Burnaby BC on January 10th 1959, before welcoming their first born, Karen, that
following October. Annette then spent the next six years following her husband from
logging camp to logging camp, during which time she had her second child Lee in April
of 1962. The family settled down and purchased a farm in Coldstream BC in 1965.
While raising two kids and caring for a farm while her husband was out logging, Annette
found herself working in the packing house boxing apples to bring in a second income.
Due to George’s line of work, the family made a brief move to Revelstoke BC in 1967,
Annette made the best of it by finding work at the Revelstoke Hospital for those four
years. After finding themselves back at the family farm in Coldstream in 1971, Annette
decided it was time to complete her GED. This sparked an interest in education for
Annette and she went back to complete a Steam Engineering course in 1972 while
working at Central Supply in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. With both children entering
adulthood, Annette and George decided to sell the family farm and relocate to Nanaimo
BC in 1979. It was in 1982 that Annette was ready for one last career change and
completed her Care Aide certificate. Fresh into retirement the two started traveling with
their motorhome to Mexico in 1987, and continued to do so 27 more times. Annette also
enjoyed traveling all around the world throughout her retirement, places like Australia,
New Zealand, Cuba and the Dominican Republic to name a few. Annette and George
purchased places to call home in Puerato Vallarto and Arizona multiple times. A new
chapter of Annette’s life was opened when she became a grandmother in 1981,1983
and 2000. After loosing her husband George in 2014, Annette kept busy with various
hobbies such as knitting, sewing, playing crib, story telling and dancing. One thing that
stayed true her whole life, you could always find Annette on the dance floor. It was at a
seniors dance that she met her late life partner Roy, who she later moved in with in
Enderby BC in 2020 so they could enjoy every minute possible together.
Annette was a hard working, fun loving, caring woman who touched many lives during
her time on earth with us. Always there to listen and lend a hand, she will be
remembered for her warm hugs and boisterous laugh. Her love for travel and family will
not be forgotten. Annette was met at heavens door by her parents George and Isobel,
her sister Marie, her husband George and her son Lee. Left missing her on earth is her
daughter Karen (Kevin), grand children Lavone (Kurt), Luke (Sylvie), and Alana
(Ashley), her great grandchildren Tianna (Dylan), Elayna and Quinn, along with her
great great granddaughter Iris.
A funeral service for Annette will be held June 21st 2024 at Pleasant Valley Funeral
Home at 10am, followed by a service at the Enderby Legion at 1pm
