Local police getting more municipal support staff
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s support staff levels will be increasing.
At the regular meeting Monday, June 10, Vernon City Council was asked to temporarily increase service levels in 2024 by $220,015 in order to hire a full time Temporary Crime Analyst, a part-time Court Liaison officer, and a part-time Exhibit Custodian.
The salary for the two part-time positions would be $44,624 each, while the Crime Analyst pay would be $130,767.
During the regular meeting, Councillor Kelly Fehr inquired as to if the two part-time positions could be filled by just one worker, to which Geoffrey Gaucher, Vernon’s General Manager of RCMP Municipal Support Services, explained that the three positions need to be filled individually as they require different skill sets.
