RDNO bans smoking in all parks

People could face a fine if they are caught smoking in Regional District of North Okanagan parks.

The RDNO board of directors has directed staff to update its parks bylaws to prohibit smoking in any RDNO park, trail, or natural space in Greater Vernon, the electoral areas and White Valley.

The current bylaws for the parks provide a definition for smoking, but do not include a prohibition for it within park areas.

The fine for an offence will be $100, but there is no word on what kind of enforcement there may be.
