Province provides boost to local businesses

May 1, 2024 | 5:00 PM

A North Okanagan business organization has received provincial funding to help local businesses grow and attract more customers.

The Armstrong-Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce said the $72,300 is from the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program as part of the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation.

Executive director, Patti Noonan, said the money will allow several projects to proceed.

  1. A business retention and expansion strategy and implementation plan that will support business growth in the region.
  2. A local business marketing initiative that will bring awareness to the unique businesses in and around Armstrong and Spallumcheen.
  3. Business educational workshops that will provide updated and new skills for businesses and their staff.
  4. To build a strong network of businesses that can support and collaborate on new business opportunities.

“Businesses will be contacted as we begin to gather information for this work,” Noonan said.

The project is expected to begin this month.

It will include developing a plan, regional marketing and business education in Armstrong, Spallumcheen and the surrounding small communities.
