Water advisory for residents in South BX

Apr 22, 2024 | 5:25 PM

Some residents of the South BX in the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) are on a precautionary water quality advisory.

The RDNO said the customers supplied by Greater Vernon Water (GVW) in the area along De Roo, Briggs, and Dixon Dam Roads (click here to see the maps) in the South BX are on the advisory (WQA) until April 24, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

“A maintenance event caused the loss of water and pressure to some customers in the affected area. As a result, the RDNO is required to issue a precautionary WQA to affected areas, flush, and complete water sampling to ensure the continued safety of the water system,” a RDNO news release stated.

Residents in the area may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration of the water, and/or air. Please run a cold water tap until the water has cleared. An outside tap is preferred.

The regional district added the level of service and treatment provided has been maintained but some customers may wish to boil their water for at least one minute when preparing any food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice or when brushing teeth.
