~ In Loving Memory of Leonard Bruce Lanaway ~
Len Lanaway was born in Vernon, BC on April 1st, 1946 to parents Joseph and Iveigh Lanaway, and his earthly journey came to an end in Vernon, BC on April 15th, 2024 after an inspired three-month battle against illness.
Len will forever be remembered for his abundance of heart, fighter’s spirit, unwavering loyalty and steadfast love for and devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife Liz, who has stood faithfully by his side through good times and bad; his beloved brothers Bob (Heather, deceased) and Jim (Judith); his cherished children Jeremy (Lisa), Jaime (Prentice), Veloy (Corey), Ian and Nicole (Josh); and his adored grandchildren Riley, Tanner, Owen, Tevan, Hadley, Tayden and Esme.
Len spent his working days as an accomplished lineman and electrical worker, but his biggest source of pride was always his family, with whom he shared his passion for the outdoors, hunting, hockey, lacrosse, and water and downhill skiing. Len’s favourite place in the world was his cabin, where he spent the long summer months surrounded by family, always welcoming with a big smile and a cold beer any and all friends who happened to stop by for a visit. The peaceful stretch of water at the north end of Okanagan Lake won’t be the same without him, but his soul will be evident in the warmth of the sun, the rhythm of the waves and the aroma of grilling surrounding his heaven on earth.
Rest in peace, Len / Dad / Papa. You will be missed dearly by those fortunate enough to have known you, and your spirit will live on in the love and memories that you have bequeathed to your family.
Len’s celebration of life will be held on May 10th (starting at 1 p.m.) at the Army and Navy Club in Vernon, BC.
