Pay raises for Kelowna council
Mar 25, 2024 | 5:15 PM
Kelowna city council has voted in favour of giving themselves a pay raise after a 5-3 vote on Monday, allowing staff to proceed with the required changes.
Under the proposal, the mayor’s pay would go up about $19,000 to $145,200 a year, and councillors would get a $15,000 raise to $58,080.
A recent study concluded that the remuneration of Kelowna council members was among the lowest when compared to cities with a similar amount of residents.
Councillors Gord Lovegrove, Mohini Singh and Rick Webber were opposed to the raises as presented.
