UPDATE: Weather warnings lifted for area highways

The snowfall warning has been lifted for Highway 3’s Allison Pass between Princeton and Hope.

Two area highway alerts have been lifted.

Environment Canada’s Winter Storm Warnings for the Coquihalla Highway between Merritt and Hope, and the Trans-Canada from Eagle to Rogers Pass, were lifted just before 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29.

The end of the warnings came following overnight closures of the two area highways.

The weather agency noted a snowfall warning remained in place for Highway 3’s Allison Pass between Hope and Princeton

The warning stated heavy snow was expected through Thursday afternoon.

Travellers are reminded to check DriveBC for road and weather conditions before getting behind the wheel.
