A special event is being held in Vernon on International Women’s Day, March 8.

The local committee that is organizing the Esso Cup U18 Women’s Hockey Championship is hosting an inspirational Women’s Day Gala in the Civic Room at Kal Tire Place.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Kimberley Amirault-Ryan, an internationally recognized speaker and sport performance consultant.

Following her presentation, Dr. Amirault-Ryan will take part in a hot stove panel, featuring local residents Mandi Duhamel (Senior Director, NHL), Torrie Silverthorn (Tourism Vernon), Nicky Dunlop (BC Winter Games president – Vernon HOC), and Viola Brown (OKIB).

The event is in support of the 2024 Esso Cup, being hosted in Vernon April 21-27, 2024.

“The Esso Cup will leave a legacy fund that will contribute to the growth and success of female hockey in Vernon and the greater Okanagan region.
