Boil water advisory needed for maintenance work

Feb 21, 2024 | 2:00 PM

Some residents of Spallumcheen will be under a boil water advisory once some maintenance work is completed on a water system.

The township said the Larkin water reservoir will undergo cleaning and water line flushing on Monday, Feb. 26.

“It is standard practice that a boil water advisory is issued while this type of work is being completed to ensure public safety,” a news release from the municipality stated. “The boil water advisory will be in place starting Feb. 26, and will remain in place until Interior Health is satisfied with the water quality tests.”

The township is anticipating the boil advisory will remain in place for about two weeks, until around March 8.

The municipality said all water users in the Larkin local area service, while on the advisory, should follow the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations.

“If possible, use alternate water sources such as bottled water during this time or bring tap water to a full rolling boil for 1 minute before use,” the release said. or more information on the advisory, visit the township’s website.
