Gary was born on November 8, 1957, in Kincardine, Ontario, and peacefully passed away on February 13, 2024, in Vernon, British Columbia. He was surrounded by the love of his family and the memories of a life well lived.
Gary, along with his mother, Millie and his three brothers, Mike, Paul, and Malcolm, made the journey to British Columbia, where he found not only a new home but lifelong friends. Gary happily worked at Tolko Industries/Riverside for 46 years, where he made many great friends. In 1986, he met Maureen in Vernon, and their love story became the foundation of a beautiful family.
Gary leaves behind his devoted wife Maureen and their three cherished daughters, Tamara, Brittney (Russell), and Meghan (Quinnlan). As well as the newest member of the family Greyson his first Grandchild. Gary is survived by his 2 brothers Mike and Paul and several nieces and nephews. His love for his family was evident in every moment spent together.
An avid outdoorsman, Gary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether skiing down the slopes of Silver Star, camping under the stars, or casting a line into the waters of Mable Lake, you could often see Gary and his wife Maureen walking all over Vernon enjoying each other’s company. Gary embraced the beauty of nature with enthusiasm and appreciation.
A celebration of Gary’s life will take place on February 24, 2024, at Lakers Clubhouse (7000 Cummins Road, Vernon, British Columbia) at 1:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to share memories, offer condolences, and find comfort in each other’s company during this time of reflection.
Gary and the family would like to thank his family doctors, Dr. Borchert and Dr. Perrier and all the level seven staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for their passionate care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any donations be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
Gary’s spirit will forever linger in the mountains he skied, the lakes he fished, and the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
