It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Everett Harry Rookes. Everett gained his wings on January 19, 2024. He was 76 years old. Everett had many titles son, brother, husband, Dad, stepdad, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle and a friend. And to some he had more than one title. He was also very proud to be Métis.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 27 years Patricia Rookes. His children Kevin (Marilyn)Rookes, Allan(Kathie) Rookes, Tanya (Bill)Zapf and Clayton (Kris)Rookes. His stepchildren Gerald (Wendy)Bennett, Chris(Tammy)Bennett, Marena(Guy)Legare, Brenda Bennett. His siblings Beverly (Lawrence) Ridley, David (Gail) Rookes and Karen (Darryl) Sochan.

Everett will be missed by his Grandchildren Jessica, Dylan, Madison, Blake, Riley, Darcy, Dan, Nicolas, Mercedez, Maylaiza and his step grandchildren Barry, Patrick, Rachel, Shandralee, Kimberly and Kyle.

And great grandchildren Finn, William Ryder and his step great grandchildren Connor, Faith, Seirra, Zaiden, Caylee, Carter, Nathan, Edward and Astrid.

Everett is predeceased by his brother Melvin Rookes and his mother Josephine Franz.

Everett was born in Turtleford SK and moved to the Elk Valley in 1970. He worked at the coal mine in Sparwood.  If he wasn’t working at the mine he was driving a bus to and from the mine.

Everett and Pat moved to Vernon in 2011.  Where he enjoyed camping and fishing.

Everett has asked to be cremated.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
