No luck versus Bucks: Vipers end first half of season with loss

Dec 16, 2023 | 9:15 AM

The Vernon Vipers are now on a two-week break for the holidays after a disappointing end to the first half of their BC Hockey League season.

The Snakes lost 3-1 to the Cranbrook Bucks before 1,662 fans at Western Financial Place in the East Kootenay Friday night, the Vipers fourth straight loss.

Isaac Tremblay scored Vernon’s lone goal with less than 5 minutes to play in the third period in what was a strong performance from Bucks goalie, and the game’s first star, Braedyn McIntosh, a 20-year-old out of Milton, Ont.

He made 41 saves while the Vipers started Ethan David in net and replaced him with Colin Reay after the Bucks second goal in the second period.

The Vipers finished the first half with a record of 16-10-1-0, good enough for 33 points and fouth place in the Interior Conference.

Vernon next plays on Friday, Dec. 29 when they host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at 7 p.m.

Other action on Friday saw the Penticton Vees defeat the West Kelowna Warriors 3-2 in overtime before 2,957 fans at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

That win gave the Vees a 5 point cushion over the Warriors for top spot in the conference.
